Staff Selection Commission is the organisation to recruit various groups C and D posts in central government departments and its subordinate departments.


Every year SSC releases recruitment notification as per their schedule to conduct written exams and skill tests. Every year large number of candidates registered this application form on official link and appear in examination.


SSC Stenographer: Recently SSC has released the schedule for recruitment notification for the year 2018-19. As per schedule SSC is going to release the notification of SSC stenographer grade C and grade D on 29th Sept 2018.

SSC stenographer 2018 Application form


Interested and eligible candidates can submit their application online from the official SSC website. Candidates must note that only online applications will be accepted by SSC.

Application fee in respect of online application can be paid through SBI challan/Net banking and any credit and debit cards will be accepted. The application fee is for General

candidates is RS.100/- However SC/ST/Women/Pwd/Ex servicemen are exempted from payment of fees. Application fee paid by you is non refundable.


SSC Stenographer Written exam pattern


After the successful online application process, candidates must start their written examination preparation from day one on wards.

The SSC stenographer exam will consist of 2 stages, a) Written exam b) Stenography skill test.


A. Written exam


The written exam will consist of objective type paper consists of three parts: General awareness, Reasoning, and English.The total marks allotted for the three subjects is 200 marks,

General awareness and reasoning is for 100 marks and English is for 100 marks.There will be negative marks of 0.25 for each wrong answer. Candidates who qualified in written exam will

be called for stenography skill test. The qualifying marks are decided by the Staff selection commission based on the paper level difficulty and number of jobs available and number of candidates attempted for the exam.


B. Shorthand Skill test


The Skill test will be of qualifying nature and the commission will the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/Hindi at the speed of 100 WPM for the post of stenographer Grade C and 80 WPM for the post of stenographer Grade D. The matter will have to transcribe on computer. The Transcription time is as follows


For Stenographer Grade D : 50 minutes (English) 65 Minutes (Hindi)


For Stenographer Grade C : 40 Minutes (English) 55 Minutes (Hindi)


SSC Stenographer Educational Qualification


The candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognised board or university.


SSC Stenographer Eligibility


Candidates interested in applying the SSC Stenographer grade C and grade D exam will have to fulfil the necessary eligibility as laid down by the SSC.

A candidate must be either:

a. A citizen of India or

b. A subject of Nepal or

c. A subject of Bhutan or

d. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st Jan 1962 with intention of settling in India or

e. A person of India origin who have migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the united republic of Tanzania

Zambia, Malawi Zaire Ethiopia and Vietnam with intention of settling in India.


SSC Stenographer Age limit


Candidates should be in between 18 - 27 years as on 01-08-2018 ( candidates born not before 02-08-1980 and not later than 01-08-1999)

Age relaxes for all reserved category candidates as per government rules from time to time.


Pay scale :


Recently the Finance minister has approved to implement the 7th pay commission. As per the pay commission the salary of Stenographers who qualified in final list will be as per below


For Stenographer grade D Level -4 Rs.25,500 -81,100


For Stenographer grade C Level -6 Rs.35,400 -1,12,400


For Stenographer grade C Level -7 Rs.44,900 -1,42,400


Apart from basic pay the selected candidates will get allowance like HRA, DA and transport allowance. In some departments the Stenographer grade C will get salary under level 7 which is 4600 grade pay.


SSC Stenographer selection procedure 2018


The Candidates who qualify in written exam and skill test will get appointment letter by concern department after the nomination done by the SSC. Allocation of department is done by the SSC based on the merit cum option preference.

Recruitment Rules of Stenographer Grade C of Central Board of Excise and Customs is updated, As per the Recruitment rules, Promotion of Steno Grade D to become Steno Grade C is 10 years. For details ..


G.S.R.727(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by the proviso to article 309 of the Constitution, and in supersession of the Central Excise and Land Customs Department Stenographer Grade-I (Group 'B' ) Recruitment Rules, 2004, except as respect things done or omitted to be done before such supersession, the President hereby makes the following rules regulating the method of recruitment to the post of Stenographer grade–I (Group–B) in the Central Excise and Customs Department in the Ministry of Finance, namely :—

1. Short title and commencement.—(1) These rules may be called the Central Excise and Customs Commissionerates, Stenographer Grade –I (Group ‘B’ Non-Gazetted posts) Recruitment Rules, 2015.

(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.

2. Application. — These rules shall apply to the posts specified in column (1) of the Schedule annexed to these rules.

3. Number of posts, classification, pay band and grade pay or scale of pay.—The number of the said post, its classification, pay band and grade pay or the scale of pay attached thereto shall be as specified in columns (2) to (4) of the Schedule annexed to these rules.

4. Method of recruitment, age limit, other qualification, etc.—The method of recruitment to the said post, age limit, qualification and other matters relating thereto shall be as specified in columns (5) to (13) of the said Schedule.

5. Other conditions of Service. — Each Cadre Controlling Authority shall have its own separate cadre of Stenographer Grade-I.

6. Disqualification.—No person;—

(a) who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having a spouse living, or

(b) who, having spouse living, has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall be eligible for appointment to the said post :

Provided that the Central Government may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personal law applicable to such persons and the other party to the marriage and that there are other grounds for so doing, exempt any person from the operation of this rule.

7. Power to relax. — Where the Central Government is of the opinion that it is necessary or expedient so to do, it may, by order, for reasons to be recorded in writing, and in consultation with the Union Public Service Commission, relax any of the provisions of the rules with respect to any class or category of persons.

8. Saving. — Nothing in these rules shall affect reservations, relaxation of age limits, and other concessions required to be provided for the Scheduled Castes, the Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Ex-servicemen and other special categories of persons in accordance with the orders issued by the Central Government from time to time in this regard.

SSC STENOGRAPHER SKILL TEST MISTAKES



As we all know that SSC Stenographer 2017 skill test is scheduled between 20.08.2018 to 19.09.2018. So it is very important to know how SSC will elevate the scripts in skill test.

Here is the manner in which errors in steno script are counted in ssc, Aspirants are advised to take note of it while practising shorthand. Practice of shorthand keeping in mind the following is highly advisable.

In this article we are going to explain how SSC Stenographer mistakes will calculate and how SSC Stenographer skill test mistakes pattern,


STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION


EVALUATION OF TRANSCRIPTS OF STENOGRAPHY TESTS- NATURE OF MISTAKES


I. FULL MISTAKES : The following mistakes are treated as full mistakes :-

a) Every omission of a word or figure including omission of a definite or indefinite article. In case a group of words is omitted, mark as many mistakes as the actual number of words omitted.

b) Every substitution of a wrong word or figure.  The number of mistakes will be equal to the number of words/figures dictated which have been replaced/substituted by other words(s)/ figure(s).

c) Every addition of a word or figure or a group of words or figures not occurring in the passage.



II. HALF MISTAKES : The following are treated as Half mistakes :--

a) Mis-spelling, including transposition of letters in a word and also omission of a letter or letters from a word. However, mis-spelling of proper nouns and unfamiliar names are ignored.

b) Using singular for plural noun and vice versa.

c) Wrong use of capital or small letters at the beginning of the sentence.


III. NOTE

i) More than one error in a single word : All the errors are counted but the total mistakes counted in a single word should not exceed one full mistake.

ii) CANDIDATES ARE NOT BE PENALISED FOR ANY TYPE OF ERRORS OR MISTAKES OTHER THAN THOSE DESCRIBED ABOVE.

SSC STENOGRAPHER 2017 GRADE C & D SKILL TEST POSTPONED


SSC has once again postponed the Stenographer Grade C & D Skill Test 2017 due to some administrative reasons for all regions,

The SSC officials has issued notice regarding the postpone of Skill test. As per the notice the skill test which has to be scheduled on May 2018 has postponed to conduct between 20.08.2018 and 19.09.2018.

SSC STENOGRAPHER 2017 GRADE C & D SKILL TEST POSTPONED


       
Good News for Steno aspirants: SSC SR has postponed the Stenographer Grade C & D Skill Test due to some administrative reasons which has to be conducted from 9th April 2018 to 18th April 2018 at Chennai,
